Maria Amalia of Saxony
The fact that the house of Wettin was just as versatile as the composing Emperors of the house of Hapsburg is demonstrated by the life of Princess Amalie of Saxony.
She was a student of Carl Maria von Weber and a successful composer. All twelve operas written by the princess were performed successfully by the Dresden Court Orchestra. However, it is a small miracle that »The Uninhabited House« can now be performed again.
After long and difficult negotiations, a copy of the score, which was part of the looted art taken by Russia during World War II, returned to Dresden for the Music Festival. The comedy will be revived in the wonderful ambiance of the Palais im Großen Garten, after lying dormant for 177 years.
