Comentarios Was born in Georgia. He performs regularly in the leading opera houses of the world including Teatro all Scala, Vienna Staatsoper, Bavarian Staatsoper, the Metropolitan Opera in New York and the opera houses of Hamburg, Berlin, Paris, San Francisco, Washington and many others. His repertoire feature almost all Verdi bass roles including the title role in Nabucco, Atilla, Ramfis in Aida, Wrum in Luisa Miller, Fiesco in Simone Boccanegra, Banquo in Macbeth, Pagano in I Lombardi, Fillipo II and the Grand Inquisitor in Don Carlo, Padre Guardiano in La forza del destino, Silva in Ernani and many others. Other roles in his repertoire include the title role in Boris Godunov (Mussorgsky), Dosifei in Khovanshchina (Mussorgsky), the title role in Mefistofele (Boito), Mephistofele in Faust (Gounod), Don Basilio in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Rossini), Timur in Turandot (Puccini) and many others. He performed the Commendatore in Don Giovanni (Mozart) and the Verdi and Mozart requiem under the baton of Herbert von Karajan. |
